KSU alumna identified as one of the victims in Wisconsin school shooting
Erin West, 42, has been identified as one of the victims of the school shooting. KSU confirmed she received a degree in early childhood education in 2005.
KENNESAW, Ga. — A graduate of Kennesaw State University has been confirmed as one of the victims in the school shooting that happened in Madison, Wisconsin, earlier this week.
Authorities have since identified the two victims killed as 42-year-old Erin West and 14-year-old Rubi P. Vergara.
On Thursday, Kennesaw State University confirmed West received a degree in early childhood education in 2005.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Erin West, a KSU alumna whose life was taken far too soon in an act of senseless violence. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who are mourning this unimaginable tragedy,” a statement from KSU reads.

According to a report from NBC, West “worked as a substitute teacher for three years before taking a full-time staff role as an in-house substitute teacher and coordinator.”

Police are still investigating why the 15-year-old student at Abundant Life Christian Christian School in Madison shot and killed a fellow student and teacher on Monday, before shooting herself, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said. Two other students who were shot remained in critical condition on Wednesday.
A 20-year-old Carlsbad man is now also accused of plotting a mass shooting at a government building in conjunction with Madison, Wisconsin, school shooter Samantha Rupnow’s attack.

The school shooting was the latest among dozens across the U.S. in recent years, including especially deadly ones in Newtown, Connecticut; Parkland, Florida; and Uvalde, Texas.
